SUNDAY Times 21ST August 1932 MINE FATALITY.
Fatal Injuries were received by Sydney Fraser (24), of Kalgoorlie, a miner, when struck by a fall of the earth while working underground on the Hannans North Extended gold mine, at the northern end of Kalgoorlie on Thursday.

Mine Fatality at the North End.
A young man, Sydney Fraser, came by his death yesterday as the result of an accident at the Hannans North mine at the northern end of the field. He had been in the employ of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, now developing that mine. He went on day shift at the usual hour. He was shoveling on a rill above the No. 5 level at 10.30 o clock when a piece of ground, of the estimated weight of 30 cwt, fell from the wall and struck him. Aid was quickly forthcoming and he was despatched to the Government Hospital. His face was badly bruised, as also his chest, while both legs and both arms were broken. Fraser succumbed to his injuries at 1.30 o clock yesterday afternoon. The occurrence was duly reported to the authorities. Mr. G. H. Ransford, Deputy-Coroner, will open an inquest with the assistance of a jury of three at 10 o'clock this morning. After formal evidence has been taken the proceedings will be adjourned to a later date.
The victim of the accident, who was a member of a well-known and respected Kalgoorlie family, was connected with racing for many years and he figured as a jockey on goldfields racecourses for many seasons. He was married only a couple of months ago.
