Inquest verdict:- After a short retirement the jury returned the following verdict "That Edward Roy Taylor died at the District Hospital, Southern Cross, on May 28 from shock; that the deceased sustained his injuries by being caught in a counter shaft on the mine of the Leviathan Amalgamated Gold Mines. Ltd., and that there was no evidence to show how deceased came to be caught in the counter shaft, and no blame being attachable to anyone."
