Other Information
A miner named Gus Ousen met his death in a somewhat mysterious manner at the Emperor mine, Day Dawn, last Tuesday-His dead body, badly battered, was found in the water shaft where there was five or six feet of Water. There appears at present very little to show how Ousen got into the water, and whether the death was due to drowning or a shattering blow from the cage.
Acting-Coroner Hicks and a jury of three, Messrs Coonan, John Moloney, and Stansfield, commenced an inquiry on Wednesday morning, but after the body had been viewed and identified proceedings were adjourned till today (Saturday) on the application of the police. The magistrate ordered a post mortem examination to be made, which may go a little way towards clearing up the mystery. Ousen was a native of Denmark and a man of about 45.
