A MINING FATALITY - KILLED BY A FALL Kalgoorlie, March 17
Richard J Michell, a battery hand, employed at the Ivanhoe Mine, received injuries this afternoon which shortly after resulted fatally.
The unfortunate man was working on the top floor when by some means he lost his foothold and fell a long distance. Dr Sawell, who was summoned at once, ordered his removal to Nurse Egan's Hospital, and he was taken there in a dying condition and expired a few minutes later from internal injuries.
Michell, who was a married man, about 40 years, lived at 113 Hanbury Street, Kalgoorlie. An inquest was opened this afternoon before Mr P Troy, R.M. and adjourned. He left his estate of 844 pounds to his wife.
