Diagnosis or cause of accident
Buried in a mine cave-in. Rescuers came close to digging him out, but further falls put their lives in danger. Rescuers were within a meter of Ure and could hear him breathing. Jack Tetlow, Billy Pearse and Jimmy Boase received a Royal Humane Society medal for their acts of courage. Now an open-cut mine, Ure's body was revealed in 1995 and reburied in the Sandstone Cemetery.
