Other Information
An article in the 'Kalgoorlie Miner' dated Friday 8th July 1910 - MINER KILLED BY FALL OF STONE Southern Cross, July 7 Late last night, word was received in Southern Cross from Marvel Loch, that at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, Sylvester Muller was killed by a fall of stone in the 300ft level in the Marvel Loch GM. From the information obtainable it appears that while Muller was working in a stope about a hundredweight of stone came down, striking the unfortunate man on the head and shoulder. He was immediately conveyed to the surface, and it was at once seen that he was seriously injured. He lingered for about an hour and then expired. The deceased leaves a widow and five children, for whom much is felt. The manager of the Marvel Loch mine, who was in Southern Cross at the time, on being apprised of the occurrence, immediately went out to the mine. Constable Cleary also went out to bring in the body. An inquest will be opened tomorrow on the arrival of the inspector of mines, when further particulars will be available.
